Pakistan’s IT exports can reach $30 billion: SAPM LAHORE: (Tuesday, May 27, 2025): Minister of State for Heritage and Cultural Division, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister and Punjab University alumnus Huzaifa Rehman has said that Pakistan’s IT sector exports can reach $30 billion by utilizing resources properly. He was addressing a special ceremony organized in his honor by Punjab University at the Law College Auditorium here on Tuesday. On this occasion, PU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Ali, Director School of Communication Studies (SCS) Prof Dr Abida Ashraf, Director Alumni Office Prof Dr Hamid Saeed, heads of SCS’ departments, faculty members and a large number of students were present. ![]() In his address, Huzaifa Rehman said that Pakistan has given us a lot and now it is time to work for its development and prosperity. He said that people leave their friends due to fear of NAB and FIA, but real friends are recognized only during critical times. He said that after his parents, his teachers at the PU SCS played a major role in the position he is in today. He said that progress is not possible without education as this is the key to success. He said that the joy and satisfaction he has received by coming to his alma mater is difficult to describe in words. He said that PU is a very wonderful institution in which an atmosphere of educational environment full of facilities is established. He paid tribute to his late teachers Prof Dr Ahsan Akhtar Naz and Prof Dr Mughees-ud-din Sheikh for their services to PU. He also thanked Prof Dr Muhammad Ali for the ceremony organized in his honor and expressed his determination to always render his services to PU. Dr Muhammad Ali, while welcoming Huzaifa Rehman, said that the inclusion of a former student of PU in the federal cabinet at such a young age is an honor for the institution. He said that this is also an opportunity for our students to learn how to convince themselves with hard work and dedication. He said that his teachers consider themselves vice chancellor because of him, which is a big honor for him. He said that PU is a great institution; keep an eye on its good qualities. He said that PU has produced great personalities including eminent judges, lawyers, bureaucrats, educationists, ministers, engineers, social scientists. He said that if you want to live in the world with your head held high, you will have to be financially stable and benefit from technology. He said that for the first time after the victory in the recent Pak-India war, people are feeling pride in the green passport. He said that the Pakistani army and the nation have taught the enemy a lesson that its generations will remember. He said that DG ISPR has fully expressed the entire nation by saying that ‘you will stop our water, we will stop your breathing’. Prof Dr Abida Ashraf said that Huzaifa Rehman is a shining example for the PU SCS. She said that Huzaifa continued her journey as a journalist along with his education, which is worthy of imitation for our young students. She said that students must dream big but should not give up hard work, dedication and honesty to realize them.
